Who this is for
This consultation is designed for a manager who has accepted, or is close to accepting, an employed role in Germany. It suits people moving with a partner or family as well as those arriving alone. The result is a practical map connecting the employment contract to the move: which point needs clarification, which appointment comes first, and what can wait.
It is not immigration representation, tax filing, legal representation or negotiation with your employer. Where a question requires a Rechtsanwalt, Steuerberater, health insurer or immigration authority, we identify that boundary and help you prepare the right question.
What we cover
Before the call, you send the employment contract or offer summary and a short list of concerns. During the session we work through:
- position, reporting line, workplace and any travel expectations;
- probation, notice periods, working time, holiday and sickness reporting;
- fixed and variable pay, typical payroll deductions and the first payslip;
- relocation allowance, temporary accommodation and repayment clauses;
- registration, tax identification, health insurance and social-security sequence;
- practical expectations for the first working week and probation meetings.
How the consultation works
Preparation, two working days before. Send non-sensitive extracts or a redacted contract, your intended arrival date and the municipality where you plan to live. Remove passport numbers, bank details and signatures.
Conversation, 90 minutes. We use a shared agenda and distinguish employment terms from immigration, tax and housing matters. You can invite a partner for the final 20 minutes if household timing affects the move.
Written follow-up, within two working days. You receive a concise action note: decisions, dates, questions for HR and referrals that may be appropriate. One clarification email within seven days is included.
Constraints worth knowing
The session is held in English. It explains ordinary German employment and relocation practice but does not issue a legal opinion. Availability is by appointment; urgent same-day contract reviews cannot be guaranteed. If your role involves board appointment, regulated professional status, employee equity, complex cross-border tax or an active dispute, specialist advice will usually be necessary.
Prepare these five items
Bring the latest contract version, job description, relocation benefit letter, intended address or municipality, and a calendar showing your planned arrival and start date. A clear timeline is more useful than a large unfiltered document folder.
Next step
Tell us your role, intended start date and the two employment questions that matter most. We will confirm whether this consultation fits before arranging payment or a date.
